| Description: |
| Opening reception for the exhibition, open March 15-December 31; remarks by author Roxana Robinson. Born in New York City 150 years ago this year, Wharton lived abroad for much of her adult life, but 19th-century New York City inspired her great novels and short stories, from THE HOUSE OF MIRTH to THE AGE OF INNOCENCE. This exhibition will show Wharton's deep and unbreakable ties to the city, showcase Wharton family photographs, and reveal the intimate links between Wharton's world and the Society Library. This exhibition is generously funded in part by the Achelis Foundation and Deborah S. Pease. |
