Has been attributed to Pierre-Gaëton Dupont; cf. also T.W. Copeland, Our eminent friend Edmund Burke (1949), p. 217, where the work is speculatively characterized as a hoax, intended to be taken as a response from Victor Du Pont de Nemours, whom Copeland had tentatively identified as the correspondent to whom Burke addressed the Reflections.
